Breakfast
Breakfast in Italy is comprised of espresso-based coffees and freshly-baked pastries.
Most Italians cannot conceive of the idea of eggs, meat, or fish in the mornings and since coffee and sweet pastries is the local tradition, we stay true to the authentic Tuscan experience at Villa I Busini. Freshly prepared by a family-run pasticceria and lunchroom in nearby Rufina, breakfast is served daily at the Villa.
Our daily Tuscan breakfast features a variety of espresso drinks made with the best coffee beans available— ground to precision before they are filtered through our state-of-the-art espresso machine—and a selection of freshly-baked pastries, such as:
Cornetti (or brioches), which is the Italian version of a croissant, only smaller, sweeter, and less buttery.
Bomboloni, which are similar to doughnuts, only tastier and more refined.
Sweet Crostata (Italian baked tarts) are filled with either fruit preserves or crema pasticcera (pastry cream) and topped with crostata di frutta (fresh fruit). The menu item was inspired by the 1570 cookbook, Opera dell'arte del cucinare in which renowned Renaissance Chef, Bartolomeo Scappi, featured a plum and sour cherry crostata recipe.
Local cheeses such as fresh ricotta or pecorino, and a selection of salumi, are always available.
Fresh Tuscan Bread served with homemade preserves and an assortment of seasonal local fruits.
Freshly squeezed orange juice, and when available “blood orange” juice, is also catered.
At Villa I Busini we take care to support local agriculture and provide our guests with a true Tuscan experience, so we do our best to offer local, Italian-grown, organic products whenever possible
