The Portrait Salon

The Portrait Salon is the main and largest salon in Villa I Busini and features two oversized reproductions of classic Renaissance paintings. The first is Leonardo Da Vinci’s, Lady with an Ermine, which he painted in 1490, and the second is Palma Vecchio’s, La Bella, which was painted circa 1518. Both original masterpieces are now housed in museums abroad and our replicas bring them back home, in memory of the Renaissance era. The artworks were specifically chosen, not merely because of their remarkable beauty, but as a tribute to women of the Renaissance, whose important role was often overlooked.

The large custom-made s-shaped sofa in the center of the salon invites you to relax and recline. This giant loveseat is the perfect place from which to enjoy the warmth of the period fireplace, dream of a magical time, and admire the serenity of the Renaissance artworks.

An old-world delight, every aspect of the salon ignites the senses. The ceiling features intricate hand-painted golden frescoes on the ancient logs, the candelabras create an old-world ambiance, the glass windows welcome natural light, and the centuries-old thick wooden floorboards—notice how they have curved over the years in the corners of the room—echo the sound of footsteps.

The Portrait Salon transports one into another era and invites you in to experience the Renaissance.
