San Giovanni di Battista
Chapel
The Villa I Busini Chapel was named after San Giovanni di Battista (St. John the Baptist), and is where the noble residents of the Villa celebrated many happy moments, as well as mourned many sorrows.
Between 1423 and 1935, Villa I Busini was owned by three distinct and intertwined families—the Busini’s, the Medici’s, and the Peruzzi’s (or Peruzzi de Medici’s)—all of whom experienced both joys and tragedies over the years.
This Chapel is where Anna Maria Luigia de Medici wept for her husband and where Edith Story held the burial of her son, Bindo. It was also a place of quiet reflection and cherished commemorations, where the families united in spirituality, and honored joyous moments.
Serene and authentic to it’s Renaissance roots, San Giovanni di Battista is a magical place with an elaborate stone altar, a 10th century cross with baptism font, and beautiful stained-glass windows that allow natural light into the Chapel through the Coats of Arms imprints that line their surface.
Take a moment to contemplate life, embrace the undeniable aura of spirituality, and become one with your God, or Universe.
